Termite Bianca

This is another pin up I did a couple years ago that is also seeing the light of day. The character is Termite Bianca from an Italian sci-fi comic of the same name created by Marco Bianchini, Marco Santucci and Patrizio Evangelisti.

My piece is for Fantasia Termite Bianca, an international tribute book which will also feature the very intercontinental assortment of Katsuhiro Otomo, Katsuya Terada, Akemi Takada, Yoshitoshi Abe, Foo Midori, THORES Shibamoto, Maya Miyazaki, Sho Murase, Bob Eggleton, Bryan Talbot, Oscar Martin, Daniela Uhlig, Otto Schmidt, Lokman Lam, Paolo Barbieri, Maurizio Manzieri and Mario Alberti.

The book will be available next week at the Lucca Comics and Games festival in Lucca Italy. And online shortly thereafter here.

Skadi

I jumped at the chance to do this pin up a couple of years ago for the very awesome Katie Rice because I'm a big fan of her work. She and Luke Cormican do this hilarious/ridiculous web comic called Skadi. She's a barbarian girl on a quest to eat of every meat.
This pin up has finally seen the light of day in their new book compiling the first two years of Skadi web comics. It's premiering at APE this weekend in San Francisco. Look for it!

Out of Stock (temporarily)

It looks like I've already sold my entire supply of Comix Buro Presing: Sketchbooks. They went much faster than I anticipated.

If you missed out, don't worry, I'm expecting a new shipment of inventory from the publisher. As soon as I get them I'll put them back up for sale here on the blog.

If you already ordered your copy before I disabled the button, no worries, it's coming.
Thanks for waiting!

Topless Summer Love Girls

A while back I did a couple illustrations for Leslie Cabarga's humor book "Topless Summer Love Girls; A Gentleman's Guide to Women, Relationships, and Breasts".

To quote the PR machine:
"Topless Summer Love Girls is a zany, pop culture commentary on growing up male in the era of Playboy, feminism, and swimsuit editions. Arming men with new insights into themselves and the eternal battle between the sexes, this hilarious and sexy book filled with hundreds of titillating photos of half-naked women is a passionate and unapologetic examination of men, women, and breasts."

These were my attempts at playboy style gag cartoons for the book.
Gags written by Leslie Cabarga, art by me.

The book has been officially released, get it here!

Dan DeCarlo’s Jetta

I'm a huge Dan DeCarlo fan and if you know his work you can see why. One of my favorite DeCarlo characters is that "high school sweetheart of the future", Jetta. Who is Jetta you ask? Well you're about to find out. A mountain of gratitude goes to Craig Yoe for compiling, for the very first time, the entire Jetta comic book run in one retro futuristic edition.
And I got to be a part of it! In Pin-up form that is.
Here's my contribution to the book:

And the study (not in the book, I don't think)

The book has a ton of other awesome Pin-ups, like these for instance:

Craig McCracken, Jenny Lerew, Justin Ridge, and Katie Rice respectively (Katie's is genius btw).

APE! this weekend.

I will be attending APE this weekend. Splitting space with Scott Morse as usual, tables 315 and 316.
I've finally received a supply of my new book from Fluide Glamour! They're imported from France and I've only a limited amount of them, so I'll be selling half at APE and saving the other half for CTN.

I've also got a new print to sell, my recent Flying Tiger piece.

Art of UP

I finally got my copy of the Art of UP book. A little late I know. I usually don't like to mix my work at Pixar with my personal work here on the blog, but I'm very proud to have some art in the book. I loved working on this film and this book is a great memento for me, plus it's a chance for you to get a glimpse of my regular storyboard work.

Now if only they'd spell my name right.

ARTBOOK

I just got my first copy of my new French published artbook. I think it looks really great, Fluide Glacial did an amazing job with it. I even got a really awesome quote from Arthur De Pins on the back.

The book is essentially a new edition of the out of print Belle du Jour but the art is arranged in all new page layouts. It looks pretty slick.

Announcement

I'm very excited to announce the re-release of my sold out book Belle du Jour! It's being published in France in May 2009 by Fluide Glamour (a division of Fluide Glacial). It will be part of their art book series, a follow up to the Arthur De Pins art book. Which is quite an honor, Arthur is one of my favorite artists.

The book will contain all of the same art but with a different format, presentation and layout. It's going to look really spiffy, I can't wait for everyone to see it.

This is Fluide Glamour's 2009 catalog used for the recent BD festival at Angoulême to promote the book. It was an exciting surprise to see my drawing on the cover.
