Beware the Belle du Jour!

I HAVE BOOKS!!
Okay, so I've been holding out on you guys. I was planning to build the suspense a little, but heck, the books arrived today a week ahead of schedule and I couldn't resist.

I think I've been working on this book for the better part of 2 years, so you can imagine the kind of thrill it is for me to see them fully realized. It's quite addictive in fact, makes me want to make all sorts of books.

Anyway, as you can probably tell, it's a book of cheesecake/pin-up art type drawings and paintings. A "best of" compilation spanning 10 years to be exact. I'll be at the San Diego Comicon this year doing my best to sell them.

  20. The book is going to sell for $25. It's a 96 page hardcover full color throughout. I'm also planning to do a limited edition version, which is the same book but with a watercolor drawing attached as a book plate. I haven't figured out how many yet, or how much it'll cost.
Shortly after con I'll be setting up a shop on the blog to sell them over the internet. So they will be nice and available to anyone who doesn't make it to San Diego.
As far as my booth #, I need to double check. I'm splitting with some friends and I'm not sure at the moment which of two table I'll be at. I'll make a post with my location soon.

  22. Hi, Bill.

I have to say that I like the style of the artwork I saw in those pics you took. But I have a question to ask you - how did you publish them? I'm kinda curious.

  29. Bill, Jeff Pidgeon and I will be rockin' it at booth 4800, on the left hand side of the con floor, near the door, kiddie-corner from Mignola and a couple aisles over from Stuart Ng.

Bill's book will be a MUST HAVE for anyone at the con. Buy two so you can give one to a friend who will attempt to kill you because they missed out on getting one in person. Plus, you can grab Jeff's new TOY and my books, THE ANCIENT BOOK OF MYTH AND WAR and SCRAP METTLE!

  36. Stef,
I got the book printed in China by a company called Global PSD, they did a great job I'm very happy with them. They have local offices in San Rafael and New York so they are very convenient to deal with.

    Kamui.EXE,
Publishing basically boils down to hiring a printer to print your book. But I guess it starts with making the content. I personally laid all my pages out in photoshop, then imported them into "In Design" (which is essentially a book layout program). Then I exported the whole thing as a pdf which was sent to the printer to print the book from.
If you plan to get your book distributed you're going to need a bar code and an isbn #. You can get that stuff here.

    Lauren,
I'm sure I'll be selling my book at APE and Wondercon (both in San Fran) next year. I havn't yet figured out how wide a distribution (if any) I'm going to get. Maybe you can very politely ask Matt Peters to be my east coast pimp. I could send him a box and he could sell them to all you New York guys for me.

    Maybe.

  37. Thanks Bill! Maybe if I lure him in with some Superman comics he'll agree to do it ha ha ha

  38. Wow Bill . Very gracious of you to share the info on printing.I will now buy 1 and one half books from you in San Diego.Looking forward to it.

  40. hey Bill,
Congrats! The books look amazing. I can't make it to the Con, but count me in to get one after for sure.

  41. Sorry that I took so long to get back to what you said, Bill. (Got my head stuck in yet another bunch of art projects! Lol!) But anyways, thanks for the info! Although I do have one more question for you if you don't mind. The link you gave me, does it just work for American books or can it also be applied to Canadian ones as well? (Yeah... I come from Canada... from a really small city).

    Thanks for your help! ^^

  42. Kamui.EXE,
I'm afraid that I do not know if it's U.S. only. Sorry about that. You might have to do some digging.

  43. Thanks anyways, Bill.

Well... good luck at the Con!
