There's a little extra "volume" in this piece I know.
Ahem.
It's a gift for a couple friends... friends who are a couple. You know what I mean. There are two of them. Friends I mean.
Anyway she's their creation HyperJen.
I was going for more of a retro 50's version of the character.
I couldn't decide which version of the scan to post, so you get both! I like the crispness of the high contrast scan but I also like the cool variations in materials that you can see in the color scan. Including the zip-a-tone on the space stuff and rocket.
Inking is fun. I need to get back into it more.
Yeeuh! SPACE GIRL!!! The cleanup work on this is rock solid. Way to go!
ReplyDeleteOh, very retro indeed ^-^
ReplyDeleteYour work is awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THE ROCKET!!! :) NO, I PREFER SPACE GIRL DEFENITELY

ReplyDeleteHoly asteroids! Great pic!
ReplyDeleteI like the second one the best! the contrast adds a whole lot you don't notice in the first!
ReplyDeleteBill, you are easily one of my biggest inspirations right now as I struggle to learn to realy draw girls ( LOL seriously ) and this kind of stuff is why.. Fantastic man... thank you for sharing..
ReplyDeleteWOW!
I love retro space girl stuff and this one is - excuse the pun - out of this world.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! :)
ReplyDeleteBill..you're funny. I love this girl and her humongous boobs!
ReplyDeleteLiana, you know the person who she is modeled after! Thus the boobs.
ReplyDeleteI love you.
ReplyDeleteGreat drawing, and your inks are KILLER.

Great pose and girl, endowed or not. I know what you mean about the color scans of bw artwork...it definitely shifts from warm to cool when it's strictly bw. There are some great full color scans of Dave Stevens bw ink art in the new book about him Brush with Passion you should check out if you don't already have a copy.
ReplyDeleteStellar! And, YES, more inked pieces! Keep up the killer artwork.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work!
ReplyDeleteThanks everybody. I'm really happy with the piece.
ReplyDeleteMike,
I do have the Dave Stevens book, it's fantastic! I'd forgotten how big an influence he was on me when I was young, and didn't even realize his continued effect on me know.
Excellent drawing man, from inception through cleanup, great stuff.
ReplyDeleteSO Cool!!
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful! It's nice to see the
ReplyDeletezip-a-tone, too!
You have great work, Bill. So much energy, and the girls are super cute.

Thanks for including the different stages of the art (like on the valentine one, too). It's nice to see the process.
ReplyDeleteI love the extra arc that the billows on the boots add.

ReplyDeleteThe late Dave Stevens and I were pals back at Disney and Hanna-Barbera. We both worked for Doug Wildey.
ReplyDeleteI think Dave would have loved your drawing.
What a fantastic piece! I came across you completely by accident, but am totally smitten.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
XO
