Salute!

I spent the weekend on this new piece for an auction.
It's to benifit a military fund raiser for injured troops and their families. Right now I don't know when or where it will be, but I'll post more details as I get them.
Her uniform is based on a British Lance-Corporal from the 4th Infantry Division stationed in France in 1940. It had a kilt and a hat with a little red pom-pon thing on it, so I thought it might look cute on a girl.

Love what you did with this, Bill! The shapes colors and subtle shading are great. That texture in the background is also tops.

It's drawn with a tuscan red col-erase pencil and painted with a combination of acrylic washes, concentrated watercolors and gouache.
I'll be posting soon with greater detail on my method.
Keep your eyes peeled.

I'm running out of ways to say how cool your stuff is.... ;)
Really nice,I like the toned paper look. what kind of paper are you using for these lately? Is it some kind of heavy printmaking paper or something? I've been playing around with watercolors on diff papers and it's tricky to find non-watercolor papers that like watercolor.

This piece is still not up for auction yet, as far as I know.

Thanks to those who included links to their blogs. Lots of inspiring stuff for me to pour over.

To Mr. Dooney (if you're listening), I've been using a colored pastel paper for these pieces. It shouldn't work with watercolor but I've been getting good results somehow. Maybe because I don't work very wet. I get almost no buckling too, which doesn't make sense either.
